What Did I Miss?

I can't believe I'm making my big return to the blogging life with such a lame post, but I have no choice. I wanted to come back to describe to you all the AMAZING journey we've been on this past three weeks with MY NEW CHRISTIAN DAUGHTER (yay!), but I can't. To tell of all the wonderful miracles that have been unfolding right before my often teary eyes, I will need to write a substantial post. The problem is that currently, I'm peck typing one button at a time. I have chronic tendonitis in my right wrist from an injury I sustained about twenty years ago. It only becomes a problem for me about maybe 2-3 times per year, but wouldn't you know......... I've been so eager the past two days to keep it immobile to let it heal so I can take off my splint and type, but this time it's being a bit more of a booger than it has before. So please know I will soon be making the rounds, getting caught up and maybe beginning to leave some comments again. I've enjoyed my concentrated time off, but I really have missed my Bloggy circle while I've been away too. So until tomorrow......or the next day - or come to think of it, Monday since I'll be at the lake with hubby this weekend, and you all know how eager I am for that! I promise, though, not to water ski so I can come back and type no later than that, O.K.?

Oh, and I've put in to have a blog design done in the next month or two. So maybe by mid-summer you can quit staring at this tired old design! :) Blessings!

We're Multitasking While I've Been Away

I'm still officially on a writing break (well, blogging - I've been doing a lot of other type of writing I'll post about in a week or two), but this was short and so funny, I had to record it. Several years ago, I found the neatest book for my Grandmother for Christmas. It was all about where famous phrases originated. "Giving my two cents worth," "He has a chip on his shoulder," "Singing for your supper," etc. It was a fascinating book and recently I asked her to see it, but she doesn't remember it. Just a few minutes ago, though, I got to witness first hand how such phrases might come about. The kids and I were cleaning out our very junked up car after school when the younger two decided to take an unscheduled break (after not very much work). This rather irritated Dalton, who often does more than his fair share of the chores. When he looked over to see the two of them conspiring to remove the wrapper from a small piece of bubble gum, Dalton yelled at them, "Come on guys - you need to help. It IS POSSIBLE to clean and chew gum at the SAME TIME!" I just assumed he was trying to be funny, except that he was so perturbed. So my laughter made him wonder what was so funny. I explained to him that he had just coined a variation of a very famous phrase!

Inside Jokes

To me, it's one of the fun aspects of family life. Having those "inside jokes" that no one else knows the stories behind. Uttering a few nonsensical words that can elicit instant hilarity. Here are some of ours:

"Two watermelon slushies and that nasty one!"

"Hey kids, look! There's a bison!"

"The woodpecker is back!"

"Are you ready Freddy? Ready Francine?"

"Hey, there's another Campbell's Soup Factory!"

"Goooooooo truck!"

"Here is your information on the situation.....oh, he's got frustration"

"I've been a BAAAAAAAAD boy"

"Chocolate......house!"

"Only bawls are circles"

"It's ALL ABOUT the tile guy!"

"You don't even know about my life!"

"Wedgie Tales..."

"Get out of the chicken!"

"Oops! I've got some bad news."

"Can I please try some wallows?"

"It's FOGMON to the rescue!"

Where I'm Needed

I have only but a couple of minutes to post just long enough to say that I will be taking a break from blogging for a couple or a few weeks, at least until school is out. As can be expected when a new saint has given their heart to God, adversity will follow. The enemy isn't happy and makes mockery of those whose faith is so brand new, attempting to plant doubt. I intend to be right now where I must, defending my daughter and encouraging her in her new walk. I BELIEVE what she has done is real - her fruit is so obvious. As is the fact that the enemy seeks to undermine her confidence. This time is CRITICAL in the life of my daughter. And I will REFUSE to account her shyness for failure (as someone has implied). Her heart will be so strong for God ONE DAY. All growth starts somewhere, and it's not at the end, I can assure you from ongoing experience. So there's my peace (yes, peace - not piece). I will look forward to catching later, but for now I want to be where I am needed. Have a great May!!!

(And a very special "Thank You" to Krista at New Beginnings , Bev at Blessed Beyond Measure, and Toni at In The Midst Of This Season for tagging me for the "Seven Things About Me Meme." You made me feel special by thinking of me. :) Due to current circumstances, I'll just refer you to my recent "100 Things About Me for my 100th post." Will that count?)

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. I John 4:4

A Cinco De Mayo SUPER CELEBRATION!

Tonight was one of the absolute, bar-none, best nights of my life. Tonight at 10:45 p.m., my sweet, amazing, wondrous, beautiful miracle, my daughter, gave her heart to Jesus Christ! I got to be the one to pray with her. Wow! And the first thing God did afterward was to give me such an indescribable peace to trust that what she had done was real through the immediate fruit she bore. My sweet shy daughter said she CAN NOT WAIT to go forward at church tomorrow and ask to be baptized! If you knew her whole recent background, you would understand that THAT is straight from the Heavenly Father! Then as I was just praising Him for all of His goodness, He reminded me......just two weeks ago I had asked Him to at least once in my lifetime let me lead someone to Christ from start to finish. From telling them of Him for the very first time to planting the seed, to watering, to finally share in them getting saved. And I guess when I prayed that prayer, for some reason I was envisioning a stranger, someone I would meet and lead. But God gave me exceedingly abundant above all I could ask or imagine. In just two weeks, He answered my prayer through someone far more important to me - my flesh and blood. My only girl. And in this I believe He also answered for me another unspoken prayer as well. Yes, this was a fantastic Cinco De Mayo! A fiesta where even the angels were singing!!!

In Need Of Encouragement

My brother and his wife just got word that my niece may need to return to Omaha indefinitely as her health is not progressing enough right now at home. If you will, please leave them some encouragement at http://ashleyadamsjournal.blogspot.com Thank you - with all sincerity.

A Child's Guide To Product Endorsement

As someone who once spent her time publicizing events for radio and television networks, I now try to pass some of that knowledge on to my kids. I tell them how a lot of companies employ someone whose job it is to make that company look good and that is what I used to do. But I also tell them I only worked for people whose companies I really believed in and that some people try to make companies look good when they really are not.

Like INSURANCE. My apologies to anyone who works for an insurance company. It's just that, so far, my husband and I haven't found the particular one that isn't a big black sucking hole of injustice. If yours is different, by all means, PLEASE let me know about it. But only if it IS good. Don't just try to make it look that way. I can spot those tricks, remember?

So anyhoo, I am forever teaching the kids to spot the TACTICS. They crack me up walking through the grocery store, declaring loudly to one another, "Just because the picture on the (cereal) box is of "Superman," Justice, doesn't mean you're gonna get him. It might just be that weird blob guy inside." Or "I know it SAYS if you buy it, you'll get a jump rope with it free, Faith, but not until you buy two more boxes first and then send in the bar codes and wait 4-6 weeks. Plus it will be at least two more weeks before we buy the next box, so you're gonna be waiting all summer. Wouldn't you rather just earn a dollar cleaning the car and take it to the dollar store for a jump rope?" Oh, yeah, Baby - I've got them speaking SAVVY, I tell you. But perhaps I may have also inundated them with a few too many phrases? Take for example this conversation at breakfast this morning (based on this bucket of raisins):

Dalton: Hey, Faith, isn't that the Chiquita banana lady you're supposed to bring the outfit for Ms. P. to dress up in for your banquet tonight?

Faith: Noooooo. (Silly boy!) That's.....well, I don't think she has a name. But she's the national fan of raisins!

Like NASCAR......but for fruit?

They make me laugh like a senior on Cyalis who is now free from frequent urination. Or whatever that stuff does.

National Day of Prayer

I have been so blessed to read the writings of a woman who speaks her heart and fills it with the love of God. Heather is having her surgery today to remove her brain tumor. What an appropriate day for God to plan it. Today is the NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

These are my other heart felt prayers:

For Christians to keep strong testimonies, which is the only way to boost our national morality.

For our leaders. The ones we support and ESPECIALLY the ones we do not. I pray for them to have the opportunities they need to receive Truth.

For my children and all children. They face so many lies on a daily basis in our society.

For our troops and missionaries overseas in harms way - they serve for OUR protections and freedoms and for the love of those who don't always love us or God in return.

For our schools. All of them. If you GET to home or private school, please pray with me for the parents who do not and for their children. Pray for the teachers.

For myself. I need to look for my own beam before praying for the motes of others.

For people who need Him, especially when they mean so much to me.

That Jesus Christ will be glorified in EVERY thing.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. II Chron. 7:14

For my salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.

My Muddy Little Missionary

Last night while I was at a very important school curriculum meeting, my hubby took all three kiddos with him to check jobs. We have a construction company and it has rained so much lately that he needed to know if there was a site dry enough to go to this morning. When I returned home last night from my meeting, I found this:

And then this:

It's one of the things I love most about Faith. She is almost ALWAYS thinking of others and their needs. Especially their most important need.
