Ode To Allergies

I sit here in the thick of night.
I can not sleep; therefore I type.
My nose is runny, raw and red.
The pressure's building in my head.

Tis' time for annual allergies.
My brain it thumps each time I sneeze.
I finally broke and took a pill.
But still I'm dazed and have the chills.

Those pines look pretty, but their pollen zaps.
And cause me to need many naps.
I look as though I've cried and cried.
But wait, I have, my plans have died.

I've watched too many TV shows.
They're all reruns - the strike you know.
I can't erect my Christmas tree,
My breathing's labored with a wheeze.

So until my head does cease to leak
With tears and snot and drool while I sleep,
I guess I'll now go back to my couch.
For hub's stuffy-headed snore is one more ouch!

Thank You God

For milk to drink, for food to eat,

For eyes and ears and hands and feet -

THANK YOU GOD!

For mother, father, and their care,

For our house and clothes to wear -

THANK YOU GOD!

For friends with whom I run and play,

For sun and rain and night and day -

THANK YOU GOD!

For all the things you give to me,

Help me to always thankful be -

THANK YOU GOD!

This is such a simple poem, but I love it. It's sweet and accurate and to the point. The truth is that so many of our thank you lists would include the same things - family, freedom, salvation, and security - and could possibly sound completely redundant. Except that these are the exact things that are so very vital and they DO matter - so very, VERY much!

THANK YOU, LORD!

I LOVE YOU, MY AMAZING CREATOR GOD!

We love him, because he first loved us. I John 4:19

You'll Smile Through Tears

A good friend sent me this. I wanted to share because I just thought it was too sweet and profound not to. What a wise little guy!

She Did It!

And just in time! I will have to be silent for a few days as the world (at least our little part of it) has virtually imploded this week with several fires that need extinguishing. Nothing Earth shattering or anything we won't get through. Just one of those "when it rains, it pours" kind of phases that's keeping me REALLY busy - more than I like, but like I said, we'll get through.

In the meantime, my lovely Mom has published her first post! She finally decided "to heck with the dial-up, I'm doing it anyway!" Way to go, Mom. I think she did a great job! Please go give her a warm bloggy welcome at On My Way To Glory. Maybe even introduce a few friends to her if you get the chance. In the meantime, I'll be catching up on life and squeezing another birthday celebration into our family's 2007 Tour, as we affectionately like to refer to this time of 3 birthdays in 5 weeks and 5 birthdays in 3 months. Have a blessed weekend!

Chore #437 On My List Of Things To Do

Find the source of the smell that is becoming increasingly more obvious involves a dead animal somewhere in the garage. Yeah, I know #437 seems rather low on the priority list for that sort of task, but it's just turning out to be one of those weeks!
