Breakfast Conversation

I had the children try some new cinnamon raisin crisps that are healthy and can be eaten as a snack or crumbled up in cereal. I wanted to see if they might enjoy the latter.

"It tastes like wood" my youngest stated matter of factly.

My daughter followed with a cheery "Ooh, it does. But wood with a little bit of sugar!"

Then this prayer:

"Dear God,

Thank you for breakfast. And thank you for my new bike. Thank you that Jenny gets to come over to our house most days. Please help my baby cousin feel good on her trip and thank you so much that she got to be at her birthday party and we got to see her. Please help Daddy at work. In Jesus name. Amen."

I say, "Thank you Heavenly Father, for my Savior. For being reminded by the Israeli missionary last night of the torture He endured for my sake. And thank you for getting to start my day with tender smiles at the beauty of these children you've lent to me. Help me take the best care possible of them, for they are yours and they deserve far better than what I can do on my own. In the holy name of Jesus. Amen."

I, too, only watch movies with happy ending. My sister "scopes" them out for me, then tells me if I'll be able to handle the "sadness" level. Titanic sent me into a tail-spin for almost a month, and I still bawl like a baby when I think of 9-1-1. Who is this stranger and why is she babbling like this, you wonder. Well, I've been visiting your blog for a couple of weeks and really enjoying it. Your kids sound adorable and your family seems so fun. Are you in the Dallas area that you've got so much rain? Anyway, the prayer that you ended this entry with touched me. That's my prayer too.
